When I wrote Bought My Small Home at 21, I ended it with a line: "And this is only the beginning."
I didn't know what the next part would look like.
Now I'm 22, and I bought a piece of land in Cyberabad.
Even writing that feels a little strange. I keep reading it back, trying to let it sink in.
Also, it was expensive. Made me broke xD. But it's fine. Let me have this moment.
01A piece of Cyberabad
There's something exciting about owning a piece of land in a place I associate so much with tech. Cyberabad. The name alone makes this feel a little closer to the world I spend my days working in.
So much of my work happens on a screen. I can spend hours building something, close the laptop, and go right back to thinking about what needs fixing tomorrow. It's easy to forget how much those days can add up to.
Then something like this happens, and I have to stop for a second.
The work helped me buy a piece of land. At 22.
I'm happy about that. A little overwhelmed too, honestly.
02Happy, but feeling the expense
I wish I could write this as one clean feeling. Bought it, felt proud, everything was great.
But I can be happy about the land and still feel how much it cost me. Both are happening at the same time.
I know how much effort it takes to save money. That was a big part of my first home story too: working, learning, saving, and continuing through the days when I was tired. Spending a lot after all that comes with its own feeling. Even when it's something I wanted.
So yes, I'm joking about being broke. The expensive part is very real though 😂
For now, I'm letting myself enjoy what I've done without pretending the money was easy to part with.
03I keep thinking about the earlier version of me
In that first post, I wrote about joking with my brother that one day I would pay my own college fees and buy my own home.
I keep coming back to that conversation. How casually we could say something that actually meant so much to me. Laugh about it, then carry on, because it felt far away.
At 21, I had the home.
At 22, I have this piece of land too.
I don't think the version of me in that conversation would have known what to say. I barely know what to say now.
I feel proud of myself. It still takes a little effort to write that without immediately making a joke or moving on to the next thing. But I want to say it properly here, because I know what went into getting this far.
04Maybe that's enough property for me
This might be my last investment in property. Maybe.
I don't know what the future looks like, so I'm leaving that word there. Right now, though, I feel like I've put enough into this part of my life.
There's other stuff I want to do with the money I earn. Travel. Build things. Have room to try something without every decision feeling expensive before I've even started.
I'm happy I bought the land. I also want to give myself permission to be satisfied with it for a while. I don't need to turn this into a plan to buy something else at 23.
Let me recover from Cyberabad first xD.
I'm writing this for the same reason I wrote about my home: I want to remember how it felt while it was still new.
The excitement. The money leaving. The little bit of disbelief that I get to call this mine. Being proud, then wondering about the future, then coming back to being happy again.
At 21, I bought my small home.
At 22, I bought a piece of land in Cyberabad.
I have no big ending figured out for this one. I'm happy. My savings need some time. And for now, this feels like enough.
